Pale Ones: What do you do?

Hey all I've been playing around and most races I can get a grip on but what do you do to help scale the pale ones? I feel like I just get stuck recruitng the same units until my earth borers can recruit some special units that are honestly not that good.... What am I missing? How do i take these guys into the late game?
