Is it just me, or are public servers so laggy?

This may just be a mobile thing, but I was trying to farm for the event, like joining mini games whenever one started, and it felt like, everywhere I went I was freezing up and lagging. With multiple stands, people joining events all at once, flexing their giant pets. I can only play in private servers because everywhere else causes my tablet to have an aneurysm. Right before posting this I was in a game of Cannon Circle and froze up mid-game for the last thirty seconds.
