Downstairs neighbor complained

Advice Needed

I've lived in the same apartment complex for 6 years. I recently moved from one unit to another, and its been less than a month in my new apartment and my downstairs neighbor has already went to the office with a noise complaint.

The neighbor said there were heavy footsteps, loud barking, and banging noises at night.

I do have two large dogs, but I have always been mindful and considerate of my neighbors. I always ensure my dogs get adequate exercise, for many reasons, but one of the top reasons is to prevent them from getting rowdy in the apartment.

Also, my dogs do not bark excessively. Ever. They do bark for a minute when they hear something outside the door, but it doesn't go on and on.

As for the banging noises, I genuinely have no idea what they're talking about about. I'm not some asshole that stomps around my apartment. I'm a small woman - I know my footsteps are not that heavy.

This morning, my dogs and I were walking up the steps and she opened her door and peaked her head out.

I'm not sure what her problem is, but I don't want to live somewhere I feel like I have to walk on eggshells.

I have asked the Property Manager to relocate me to a ground level apartment. Any advice here? I'm afraid it will escalate with the neighbor and I do not like confrontation.
