Including news articles / studies in evidence?
For anyone who’s included news articles or studies in their filing, how did you go about doing that and did it help? Did you include print-out of the document or just refer to it by name/author/link in your personal statement? (Or both)
For context I’m wanting to file for dry eye syndrome and I found some research on pub med that says there’s evidence that exposure to air pollution of a certain type can cause long-term dry eye symptoms even after the exposure is ended.
I was at Fort Wainwright for two years and it’s known as the most polluted city in America for particulate matter due to the extreme cold holding pollutants close to the ground when it’s below -20 for extended periods of the year. It also had the worst wildfire season recorded while I was there. I was thinking it might help to include the article suggesting that exposure could cause long-term effects as a link to my current eye problems and also maybe a news article or two talking about the pollution levels in Fairbanks. It’s just a somewhat unique situation so I thought it could give the C&P examiner and rater more context and outside support for my explanation in my personal statement.
Overkill or good idea? If you did this, how did it work out for you?
Bonus, if you’re a rater, would this be at all relevant and helpful or is this just pointless/excess information?
