[TOMT] [Book] young adult novel from 2000-2010’s

I’m looking for this book I read a long ago c. 2010’s. I can only really remember some of the plot. The main character (teen female) goes to a ranch with her childhood best friend (teen female) [whom they recently reunite] and they talk about the ranch hand (teen guy) [teen is a age guess for them because it’s a YA] who works there but the best friend lays claim to him. Well a bunch of circumstances lead to the guy and main character together and the guy develops an interest in the main character but she keeps brushing him off because she doesn’t want to break some girl code or whatever. As the plot develops, the best friend becomes increasingly psychotic and in the end tries to kill the main character to get the guy.

That’s all I remember. I thought it was ‘A Midsummer’s Nightmare’ by Kody Keplinger for some reason. But it’s definitely not that. I think because I remember some blonde chick with smudged eyeliner on the cover vaguely.
