Is a commute from Compton to Santa Monica a terrible idea?

Hey all. I have an interview for an airport job at SMO. Been unemployed for over a year and this is my first interview in a while. I need to start earning money again.

The job is at the airport and they ask for flexible scheduling. I noticed checking my route that leaving for Santa Monica at any time takes around 30-45 minutes, which isn't terrible. The opposite is absolutely atrocious though, with times reaching up to 1 hour sometimes.

Is this a bad idea? I am thinking of setting up my schedule to avoid peak times of traffic. Getting off at night would probably be idea to save myself most of the headache. There are no overnight shifts, but I will have to work as late as 12am (which isn't terrible, I've worked graveyard shifts before). Any advice? Should I not do the interview and wait for a similar position to open more close to home?
