Selling our property and moving ruined us financially
In 2015, I decided to sell my property in Vancouver Canada. I made a foolish plan of moving to LA with my wife to pursue some studies in Computer Science.
Even though we got some cash from the sale, our finances took a big hit as we both didn’t work. And after a year and a half of study, we had no choice but to move back to Canada. My job and salary didn’t increase as much as I thought.
Main regret: I sold my property when I could have kept it and now after the boom in housing, it is worth double what I sold it for. The thought of what could have been really keeps me up at night in worry (eg. what I could have provided for
All in all, I know I can’t control the housing market but when I look at the math, I lost a lot of potential equity and money while living without working.
I just want to know what I can do to get myself past this step and not have it control my thoughts.
