Cat Ate Thread
My cat is 8 y/o male. Thursday night around 11:30pm he swallowed a 3 inch piece of thread. I immediately took him to the emergency vet within 30 minutes.
They gave him:
dexdomitor to induce vomiting
antisedan to reserve vomiting
Cerenia injection for anti nausea
The vet didn’t seemed too concerned since it was such a small piece of thread. She gave me the option to either 1) take him home and monitor him or 2) give him the aforementioned meds to induce vomiting.
I chose to give him the meds, however he never threw up at the vet. I took him home and since then (today is Saturday 2:30pm) he’s been acting completely normal.
He’s pooping like normal, purring, being playful, has the zoomies, woke me up bright and early for his wet food at 8am this morning. His appetite is normal and he’s drinking water. I looked through his poop for the thread and didn’t see it.
However, I found some vomit today. I’m not sure when he threw up, but it was within 18-30 hours since leaving the vet.
Do these medications have lingering effects? Is that what caused him to throw up? Or is the thread in his stomach possibly causing him to throw up? He throws up occasionally — usually hairballs, sometimes food. This time it was all food.
Just wondering if I should take him in for X-rays. Or if he’s probably fine since he’s acting completely normal? Thanks in advance.
