Tired of my IT job at 20. Planning to switch to a bank job (SBI PO 2026). Can I make it?
Hey everyone,
I’m 20 years old, working at an IT services company earning ₹55K per month. I graduated from a decent Tier 2 college with an above-average CGPA, and I’m fairly good at tech. But unfortunately, college placements didn’t go well for me, and I ended up in a service-based company that already feels like a dead end.
Even though people call bank jobs “dead ends” too, I find them more structured, stable, and meaningful especially compared to the unpredictability and bench culture of the IT service world.
I’ve done a few hours of research and I’m seriously considering aiming for the SBI PO 2026 exam. I know it’s competitive and not easy to crack, but I’m ready to put in 1-2 hours of focused prep every day after work for the next year. I’m confident in my ability to stay consistent if I have a solid plan.
My questions:
- With a full-time IT job and one year of serious prep, is cracking SBI PO realistically possible?
- How should I plan my prep, especially for someone starting from scratch?
- Are there any folks here who made a similar switch or tried it
I'm completely fine to go through this process if it pays me the same thing, Would love any advice, resources, or personal experiences from people who've been in either the IT or banking side. Thanks in advance!
