My coworker doesn’t clean up after himself and it’s bothering me
I (29f) was working yesterday and I was filling out case notes and my co worker (30s m) was sitting next to me using the computers for work. He doesn’t clean up after himself. He leaves dirty cups on the desk. In the break room, he left a dirty plate with crumbs inside on the table and he didn’t bother cleaning it up after I asked him to. I don’t clean up after him because it’s not my responsibility to clean up after him and I tell others who offer to clean up for him that he constantly leaves mess and it’s not their responsibility to clean up after him.
He used to leave wrappers on the floor until I told him it was disgusting to litter and told him to pick up his mess. I had enough yesterday and I had a go at him for leaving messy cups on our desk (it’s a row of computers) because it’s disgusting. He asked why I didn’t pick it up if I was so bothered and I told him it wasn’t my responsibility and how dare he think he is entitled to demand others clean up after him and that I am not going to pick up after him if he thinks I will.
He stopped for the rest of the day, but yesterday he did it again and I am getting really fed up because it’s been nearly a week now since he has been leaving dishes and wrappers everywhere and he doesn’t clean up after himself and I came back from maternity leave so I am extra stressed by his laziness.
