Brass knuckles and small knives

Around 12am midnight right at my door the police caught me with brass knuckles and a small pocket knife(2 inch long), they were in my pocket, they all me to show my pockets. I just carry it for self defence because I sometimes travel at midnight. They took my adhar card picture, phone number and photographs of me. I told them I carry it for self defence. They gave the knife back and told be they will keep knuckles in the police station.

They also asked me that I should come to the police station and scan my finger prints to check if I have committed any crime in the past. To which I replied okay. I called my friend who is an ex-cop who lives nearby and he came and spoke to them. Later he told me that all they want to create is a mess and they might call me tomorrow to the police station. I really don't want to get into a mess unnecessarily.

Some other friends suggested they won't come back to me. I am worried. I don't have money and time to hire lawyers.
