Could Hawkfrost have been used more in Twlight?
I’ve been rereading Twilight, and while I still enjoy it overall, I couldn’t help noticing how little Hawkfrost actually does in this installment. Aside from the dream scene (which is definitely effective), he doesn’t get a lot of presence on the page.
Squirrelflight’s distrust of him is totally warranted, but I personally feel like it was a missed opportunity to build more tension around his character, not Squirellflight’s perspective on his character. What if Hawkfrost showed up with a RiverClan patrol during the badger attack, playing the hero and winning over a few ThunderClan cats? It’d give the reader more reason to question his intentions and make his later actions hit harder.
Even something small, more substantive like a quiet one-liner to Ashfur about ambition, or a moment where he seems almost too helpful could’ve added depth to Sunset.
I know these books are written with younger readers in mind, but Twilight had so much room to plant seeds for Hawkfrost’s arc. Did anyone else get that sense, or am I just overthinking it?
