the silent end
Nothing we experience has any real importance. We don’t know why we exist. We don’t know why the universe exists. Everything we have, every decision we make, is actually just a chemical reaction. There is no soul. There is no afterlife.
The only thing we know is that when we die, everything will disappear along with our memories. That stomach ache you’re feeling? It will dissolve into nothingness. That crush you have? They willcease to exist just like you. That outfit you really wanted but never got? It won’t matter at all. At most, a hundred years later, all traces of you will be erased.
Then, in a few hundred years, your name will be forgotten. Then your grave will vanish. After a few thousand years, your bones will blend into the soil. Then the Earth will die. Billions of years later, the sun will engulf our planet. Then... then the universe will die too.
In the mornings, I don’t really think about these things, but at night, they keep running through my mind, and I fall into emptiness.
