Am I overreacting or is it normal?

So I (21 M) was about to transfer to a university. So I was looking into Facebook as I was looking for a parking spot for my car near university and there were no spots in university to park. Many people post on the groups that they have some for rent for fall or spring or for full year. I will not go into minor details about university and state as people will figure out from my profile. I just come across a post on the group which says that he has some spots for parking available for rent. I was like give it a shot and let’s see where it goes. I sent a text message on the number provided in the post. Then I got a reply stating that he has some spots available for friend and he will contact me later.

So later that day I got a call from him saying about the spot. While talking he asked me about so many things regarding my study and other and even my race as he find my name different. So I was like okay I answered his question and he started talking about various stuff, his broker business, his ex girlfriend and his dumb friend etc. This call went really long about 1 hr and I was like okay and yeah. That’s all was my response and then he said that if I want to make the deal then I must meet him in person and he is giving me the best price in discount (which he was not as he asked me about my other encounters with renters and their price). I was like okay dude and when I told him I need some time to think then he started hurrying and said that it will be taken by other and we should be friends and other things like that.

Then I finally said okay I will meet you tomorrow and we will figure out later and he agreed to that. So next day I went to his place from my job and he called me at the pool side of his condominium . Then he told me to park at the visitors spot and then he started taking about the spot that how he owns the visitor spot and I can park here. And then when I ask that it is the visitor spot means anyone can park and how can it be only for your guests , there are many people living here. How can you own a visitor spot? After asking this he just quickly shifted the topic to politics and how trump is doing this right and how musk is doing this wrong and other various shit. I was like dude I am really tired give me the fix rate so at the end he just gave me an overly inflated rate of $216 per month for 6 months, while in the area it is like around $500 for whole term. I was like I can agree from my side that it’s good but I need to talk to my parents and stuff he said dude it’s your decision take it now, I got shocked and said it’s not your decision with whom I discuss. Then he said okay and let him know as soon as possible. After that he said that since you agreed to make deal let me take pictures of your car and registration. I am like excuse me, I have only said my opinion that I like this deal it doesn’t mean that I agreed on it I need my parents permission to make this deal. He then asked about how much money I have and where are my parents? I said it’s none of your business and I will let you know later. Then he is like okay let me know and we can be friends later even if this deal does not happen.

After that I quickly left the spot and came home directly. Talked to my parents and they said don’t make this deal he sounds fishy and it went exactly as they said. So when I texted him 2 hrs after this incident he was okay you won’t find a spot closer to university and it will be really costly and it will not be very good for you. I said I can’t disagree with my parents and so I am not moving forward with this deal. Then he hung up and call me again after 30 mins. He said that what’s the problem and I said I told you earlier that my parents are not interested in this deal and it won’t be worth it. Then he is like okay just take some time in case if I change my mind and at the end he said we will always be friends and I can call him anytime. Is it weird?
