Technics SL-Q300 in unknown condition for first time buyer?
I’ve been looking to get my first turntable on second hand marketplaces and so far, the best thing I’ve found in my price range ($200) max, is an SL-Q300 that the seller is asking $150 for. The seller doesn’t seem to know about these things and I think this is his parents’ old turntable that has probably sat unused for a while. The photos are detailed and it seems to be in decent physical condition, but of course that doesn’t indicate that the thing works.
Basically my question is should I chance it if they agree to sell for $100? I can ask to demo it but I don’t have a phono preamp to take with me and I don’t know if they have speakers. I also don’t know exactly what to look for during a demo.
Thanks!
