Advice from Sixth Former to upcoming Y12's
Many people might have taken GCSE quiet lightly and that's fair because they were not "that" important, but A/AS levels are no jokes the ramp up in content is extraordinary, enjoy your free time right now in Summer but I would highly recommend pre-reading or just checking out the subjects you are going to do in Sixth form especially if you are doing Further Maths (classes go extremely quickly (in my school not sure about others) so missing a few lessons will put you behind a lot) and it will be better if you just have an idea of the topic so you can understand it quicker in lessons. Also make sure to take ALL your class tests seriously as your teachers may use them to decide your UCAS predicted grades and certain competitions/opportunities may only be open to students who achieve certain grades. I myself do 4 Subjects Further maths, maths, Physics and Chemistry (predicted 4 A*) and I usually leave my revison to right before the test but trust me its not worth it. And most importantly start doing extracurricular activities/competitions and attending university lectures!! It may not seem like much but you can always add them in your personal statement and talk about it, and don't keep it till to late since after Y12 summer holidays you pretty much have no time for it due to UCAS personal statement due date.
Also on a final more positive message, even if you got many friends going to the same sixth form as you, make sure to make new friends I have met amazing people I would have never spoke to if I didn't and personally it helped a lot with studies aswell as I just asked them for help if I needed. But overall Y12 is quiet chill and fun if you manage to keep up with the tremendous amount of homework and content.
