NCMEC, and OpenAI

Criminal Law

Hi everyone,

I’ve been wondering about the reporting mechanisms in place for ChatGPT when it comes to detecting and flagging harmful content. Specifically, I’m curious about the threshold for reporting potential child exploitation or other illegal activities to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Does anyone know what specific behavior or content triggers a report? Is there a certain threshold (e.g., specific keywords, context, or other factors) that determines when something gets flagged and reported to NCMEC? I have had some discussions with AI where I asked about specific laws in my state regarding to csam, and a message in that conversation was flagged. Do you think this will get reported to ncmec?
