Gel Kayano 32 vs Superblast 2
I’m recovering from ACL reconstruction (almost 9 months ago) and just getting back into running the last month or two. I’ve previously ran in stability shoes (Brooks Adrenaline, NB 860) because I was told at a running store years ago I overpronate. I went into a running store for a gait analysis with the specific emphasis on my ACL recovery needs. The employee helping me said he thinks I have a slight pronation but almost so little I may not even need stability shoes. He still ended up recommending the Gel Kayano 32 for me (thinking the stability may be good for my knee still?). He also had me try the Hoka Bondi and Clifton. I’ve only put in about 20 miles on them so far. They’ve started to grow on me a bit, but I’ve also been finding them kind of clunkier than what I’m used to. The cushioning has been nice and my knee has felt good so far but at times it feels floaty and also like my foot sinks into them and I lose a lot of bounce from it. I also feel like my foot has a tendency to slide in them a bit and my foot gets hot feeling after awhile. All of which has gotten me wondering if I’d be better off in a different shoe. I had been considering whether to switch back to the adrenaline or 860. I’ve also been reading a lot about the superblast 2 though and was just curious how they compare, especially in terms of ACL recovery. Had also looked at the Brooks Glycerin Max too if it’s a shoe that would be helpful. I’m a heavier runner and would use the shoe for all my running. I’m doing short runs right now ~3mi but would like to be able to wear the shoe as I increase distance as well
