Stage Manager Problem
I'm experiencing a conflict between Stage Manager, the Arc browser's sidebar, and the macOS dock positioning. Here's the specific issue:
Current Setup:
- I use Arc browser exclusively (with its vertical tab sidebar on the left)
- I want to use Stage Manager for window management
- I also use the auto-hide dock feature
The Problem:
When Stage Manager's window thumbnails are positioned on the left side of the screen (the default), hovering over that area triggers both (image):
- Stage Manager's stored window previews
- Arc browser's tab sidebar
This creates an overlapping UI issue where both elements appear simultaneously, making it difficult to use either effectively.
Attempted Workaround:
I tried moving the dock to the left side with auto-hide enabled, which forces Stage Manager to move its window thumbnails to the right side. However, this creates a new problem: when the dock appears on the left, it now conflicts with Arc's tab sidebar instead (image).
What I'm Looking For:
A solution that allows me to:
- Keep using Arc browser with its left-side tab sidebar
- Use Stage Manager on the right side of my screen
- Keep using the dock on the bottom of my screen
I'm open to any solutions including:
- Third-party applications that can customize Stage Manager behavior
- Terminal commands or scripts that might override default positioning
- Any updates or features in macOS (as of 2025) that address this issue
- Alternative configurations I haven't considered
Has anyone found a reliable workaround for this specific combination of Arc browser + Stage Manager?
