Give Me Reasons to be a Proud Indian in 2025
Not trolling. Not being edgy. Just genuinely asking:
Why should I feel proud to be Indian in 2025?
Every time someone raises valid concerns about our country, they’re immediately labelled anti-national or pseudo-liberal. But let’s pause and confront the harsh realities:
- We lack basic civic sense — littering, spitting, public urination — still normalized.
- Our justice system is painfully slow, roads are death traps, and the media has largely sold its soul to TRP and political bias.
- People still justify the caste system, honor killings, khap panchayats — as if oppression is a cultural treasure.
- There’s a glorification of hooliganism — where brute force, not reason, wins. The strong suppress the weak. Rule of law? Often optional.
- Income inequality is staggering. Billionaires launch satellites while children die of malnutrition.
- Most citizens have zero political awareness — happy to worship leaders blindly but never question policies or failures.
- Environmental destruction is rampant — cities choking on AQI 400+, forests cleared for vanity projects, and no one seems to care.
- Fundamental freedoms are eroding. Freedom of speech, dissent, expression — slowly being choked by both state and society.
- We waste time fighting language wars, debating whose state is better, while the whole nation is crumbling from the inside.
Yes — we have some truly remarkable core philosophies, ancient wisdom, and spiritual texts that the world still admires.
But can we really cover up our current dysfunction behind 2,000-year-old ideas?
Is quoting the Upanishads enough when kids can’t access clean water or basic education?
So again — why should I be proud?
For mythology? For memes? For sugar-coated textbooks?
Tell me what pride actually means when we can’t even ensure clean air, timely justice, or honest debate.
I'm not here to disrespect. I'm here because I care. But I refuse to wear blinders in the name of patriotism.
Convince me otherwise.
