Great start… then suddenly nothing. Did I mess something up?
Hey everyone,
About three months ago, I started a YouTube channel inspired by my son. He’s absolutely obsessed with three types of videos: 1. Unboxings 2. ASMR 3. Races especially Hot Wheels track races
So I thought: why not turn that into a fun father-son project? He helps with ideas, picks out cars and themes, and after a few test videos, my wife got involved too. We restarted everything with a clearer vision, and now it’s slowly turning into a full family adventure.
To our surprise, we had a great start. A few of our long-form videos reached over 5,000 views, and our Shorts were consistently hitting around 500 views all 100% organic. No ads, no tricks. Just experimenting and having fun as a family.
Then suddenly… it stopped. After uploading one specific video (an ASMR-style video called Detail and Pure Sound Part 2), our views dropped sharply especially from the “Suggested” section. Even our Shorts are now struggling to get any traction.
Maybe we just had our moment and that’s totally fine. But I’m still curious: • Could I have triggered something in the algorithm? • Are my titles, thumbnails, or content not hitting the mark anymore? • How can I improve the overall quality, flow, or feel of the videos?
Also, could it be related to using the Hot Wheels logo in thumbnails or titles? And what about hashtags, I used #kids quite often, but now I’m wondering if that might’ve been a bad idea?
I’m not here to chase trends or obsess over numbers, but I do want to learn, improve, and keep growing especially since this is something we love doing as a family.
Thanks so much for reading. Any feedback, ideas, or experiences would be truly appreciated!
