Gastric leak positive outcome?

I’m curious if anyone has had a somewhat positive experience healing from a gastric leak? My fiancé was 5 months PO and it was discovered he had a leak and an abscess from the fluid on his spleen. We’re almost at week 5 of this process, but I’m begging to hear about a positive outcome to this. He tried two weeks NPO/TPN in the hospital and it appeared to heal but opened back up two days after being released. He had to do two more weeks in the hospital and they placed a stent in his stomach and drains for the abscess. He is so miserable, I feel horrible for him. He’s on full liquids but he can hardly eat due to no appetite and the acid reflux from the stent keeping his esophagus open. He is so weak and while he’s lost weight, he looks frail due to his muscle loss. He will get the stent out in 2-3 more weeks and we’re just terrified it won’t heal and it’ll be a longer road. All I see are horror stories worse than ours about how long a leak took to heal. I really want to hear something about a stent fixed a leak in the 5 weeks they had it in.
