Concerta XL - More Subtle than Expected

ADHD Medication

Hello, just posting on here for a bit of an idea as to others experience starting on slow release Methylphenidate. I (25M severe combined-type) was diagnosed last month and have since started my titration with Concerta XL. Have done two weeks on 18mg and have just started on 36mg.

I’ve noticed some changes. I’m supposedly calmer (according to my partner) and I’ve been less restless, and I’ve had less brain noise. But these have all been really subtle, if almost unnoticeable to me.

I mean… it’s clearly helping a bit, but I have yet to have the lightbulb moment that so many people describe. It seems a lot of people seem to describe a sudden wave of calm and focus that I can’t say I’ve experienced. Is this normal? Expected things to feel more transformative…

Side note - also drank a huge amount of coffee prior to medication which I’ve completely cut out so maybe I’m just less stimulated overall…?
