Looking at house vaguely near a freeway

I am looking at purchasing a house that is about 1000 feet away from a freeway. The neighborhood is super nice, it’s gated, it’s close to things. I spoke to a nice couple sitting in their driveway and they didn’t have many bad things to say about the neighborhood, other than that you can sometimes hear the freeway if the wind is blowing in their direction.

Does anyone have any experience living roughly this close to a freeway? It’s not backed up to the freeway, there’s a good amount of thick foliage in between the back yard and the freeway. Was being close but not ridiculously close bad for your health? Any impact on property values or on sound?
