Friend got a DUI last night

Hey guys,

I’m here for a little guidance on what to do, my friend and I were headed home last night from having dinner in downtown Fullerton. He was driving and I was passenger. Around 11pm we headed home and were pulled over. He had 3 drinks and I had about 5, he was driving and did the sobriety test which he passed. He did the breathalyzer and passed on 3 different occasions. Still suspected drunk driving and arrested him. I couldn’t drive the car home since I had been drinking too.

The car ended up getting impounded and he was taken to Norwalk station where he blew .10 which is higher than the legal limit of .08. I’m assuming the cops tried to buy time so that his BAC was higher. Anyways he ended up getting a DUI.

Not sure what the next steps are, I know he has to book a DMV hearing to recover his ID but after that is a lawyer necessary? No accident or ppl hurt. His BAC was barely boarder line so im hoping he can get away with a wet reckless. But kind of need some guidance from ppl going through the same situation. He thinks his life is ruined and said he rather d*e, I’m trying to be as helpful as possible.
