Baby steps to healing

Pain Management

I made some changes and purchases and today was able to go for a 4.5 mile walk with minimal pain—probably 3 out of 10. Some of the changes since my last painful walk which had me hobbling by the end: —massaged foot and calf with hands and gun —Biofreeze on foot —ibuprofen —new shoes—switched from Brooks Ghost to Altra Experience Form—seem great at first test —Dr. Scholl’s PF inserts —CEP PF sleeve

Walk was not pain free but I need to start getting active again. Intermittently iced foot for about 20 minutes after and slipped on my new Oofos slides (these feel pretty great—upgrade from Spenco slides) although I can still feel the PF slightly when I walk around.

Any other tips for how I can improve? Do you think anti inflammation supplements like turmeric help? Thinking about buying Aertrex shoes for work (currently wear sneakers and Vivaia although latter getting worn).

I’m hoping to keep walking about 3 days a week and then as I feel further pain reside start running a few miles again. Ultimately I think weight loss is my most important change to heal but need to stay active to achieve.
