My dogs gi/gu issues ?

tw abuse, using nsfw tag just in case

My dog has had what I call a "stinky butt problem" for several years. Sometimes she was completely normal, but seemingly randomly the problem would start up. She would leak a large amount of clear fluid in her bed or wherever she was laying. When it happened at night the smell would wake me up. Sometimes it's a LARGE amount, like a puddle. Once it leaked through my baseboards and made a puddle in the basement. I don't know how to describe the smell, it doesn't really smell like BM... more like rotten hamburger meat with fish sauce. It went on for a year where I would take her to the vet for anal gland expression. They would express glands, usually there was just a small amount of fluid that would come out. It wasn't getting better. We tried two separate courses of antibiotics and then had her anal glands surgically excised. A week after the anal gland surgery the stinky butt problem started up again, exactly as it was before. Our vet said that incontinence is a potential side effect and there was nothing to be done. A second opinion vet said the same thing. But the thing is this doesn't seem like an incontinence issue. It doesn't look or smell like BM or urine. It happens randomly sometimes when she's asleep. She has also never had a poop or pee accident inside the house. It's been three years since the surgery and I just keep her in diapers when stinky butt strikes. Here's the part that I hate to bring up... My dog was exposed an abusive person who lived with me from the time I adopted her and for several years after. I no longer am in contact with this person. I found proof before ending contact that they were viewing beastiality "content" online. They had also made a few disgusting sexual "jokes" about my dog over the years.

I hate that I have to wonder about this but is it possible that the stinky butt problem was caused by trauma ?

I will be discussing this with my therapist and may also bring it up with my vet at my dogs next annual.

Looking for any insight I appreciate if possible to please be gentle as I feel awful that I trusted my dog with this person enough as it is and want to give her the best life I can now that the abuser is gone.
