Should i transfer centers?
I currently attend LAJC and have been doing so for the past 5 almost 6 months and it’s been a pretty steady decline since i arrived, roommate with hygiene issues, fake friends, family issues, not being able to do what i came for, harassment etc. I’m not speaking on the entire centers day to day life just what i’ve experienced as of late. some drama came up involving me a former friend and their partner doing creepy things around me and a minor. i had waited too long to report it (because the friend was my roommate as well as their partner being a new friend so i didn’t know what to do in the moment) so nothing happened to the people involved and obviously it got back to them and the former friend put a no contact contract on me along with spreading this agenda about me to mutual friends who no longer want to even be in my presence. because of this along with many other reasons i decided to request a transfer to long beach job corps and hope that i wont make the same mistakes as before. ive been told i shouldn’t let how they’re treating me deter me from pursuing my education and i ended up at LAJC for a reason, but seeing people who were my friends and KNEW what happened to me avoid me like it’s 2020 and i have covid hurts me deeply. i just wanna know if it’s worth it to transfer or if maybe i should leave the program for my mental health.
some info is im currently in office and need my diploma for high school and am hopefully getting an apartment soon so i wouldnt be a resident at either center for long. it is effecting my ability to sleep at night from all the stress and anxiety of seeing these people everyday and feeling like some kind of black sheep or something idk. not to mention id have to drop from my position in my student government if id want to try to get better mentally.
if anyone from long beach has any insight on the center and dorm life id greatly appreciate it.
