Thick/wavy/coarse-haired men, what high-hold products are we using in 2025?
During the hair YouTuber boom prior to COVID, I was using Cavalier Clay by Blumaan. Afterward, I tried a small, local brand called 6IXMAN that later went out of business. I now use Aveda Grooming Clay, but it's a bit lightweight for these brutal summers. I don't keep my hair longer than 4" these days.
I prefer:
- a natural/semi-matte finish, but leaning in either direction toward matte or medium would be OK
- a chunkier texture rather than a flat "nothing in the hair" look
- unscented or a minimal scent; if there must be one, woodsy or spicier scents are more tolerable than fruity, sweet or floral ones
- bonus: an easier application on blow-dried hair than Cavalier Clay had, but I can handle most products
Mediterranean, Latino, Middle Eastern and South Asian men might be able to relate easiest to my hair type.
