Tick Coller for Humans?

Is it safe for humans to wear flea/tick collars sold for dogs? I'm going on a long 2 week hike this year in an area where the ticks have been bad and would like to have 24/7 protection from them. I'm a lot bigger than a dog might need to wear 3 if they are not harmful.
