Breastfeeding and looking for input
I posted on here before but here’s a short summary:
-I got tinnitus at 23 weeks pregnant -I was laying on my side, felt my ear fill up, and then ringing began -Ringing was unilateral for about 8 months -Just got ringing in other ear (it’s a completely different sound that’s more of like a low hum, whereas other is a high pitched ringing)
I have been diagnosed with Eustachian tube dysfunction, but I also have TMJ. I’ve been using a personalized mouth guard for 2 weeks to help with the TMJ. I just took another hearing test on Monday and had an mri. Both came out perfect. I’m at my wits end with all of this. My right ear has been driving me crazy. The ringing fluctuates and sometimes it becomes very loud, especially if I hear the shower running. My tinnitus also gets loud if I yawn.
My ent wants me to get my allergies under control, but he did mention doing to balloon dilation for my Eustachian tubes or possible tubes. However, he mentioned there are risks with my tinnitus and it possible making things worse.
I feel like this all stems from my tubes but the ringing is constant. From my research, I feel people’s only success story with tinnitus and ETD is doing an oral steroid treatment. Of course, with breastfeeding, steroids aren’t really advised unless it’s a low dose. I’m so desperate that at 5 months post partum, I may just quit breastfeeding to try it.
I feel like this has really taken a toll on my mental health. I’m only 32 years old. I know so many people get used to this condition, but I feel I still fixate on it, and it’s been 9 months.
Would love to hear anyone’s thoughts on this and if it’s worth quitting the breastfeeding to try steroids. I just don’t get how this has happened and manage to stay with me for so long.
