Feedback for my magic school origin myth [Dark Fantasy]
I’ve been developing a dark fantasy world where magic is deeply tied to trauma and memory. Below is a short piece of in-world lore — the founding myth of a magical school. I’d appreciate your thoughts on whether this feels fresh or leans too heavily on familiar fantasy tropes.
📜 Lore Scroll I: The Founding of Mordrevain
^(The Meeting of the Four Legends)
In the year 900 AD, four legendary sorcerers met by the lake of Synevyr — amid the ruins of forgotten civilizations:
- Valdrik Fenrixar, warrior of fire and instinct
- Mezerionera Veytrax, alchemist of creative destruction
- Tugar Oneiros, weaver of dreams and shadows
- Laerian Morven, keeper of memory and dignity
Together, they founded Mordrevain — a school hidden within the Rock of Tustan.
But whispers say… there was a Fifth.
🔍 Discussion Prompts
- Does the “Fifth Founder” twist land well, or feel forced?
- Do these character archetypes feel too familiar, or potentially rich?
- Would you expect conflict among the Founders based on these roles?
