Can an ex come back twice?

Do you all know the saying, “They always come back”? Well, my ex already came back once, but it didn’t work out again. He gave up.

But I’m convinced that we are soulmates, and a lot of things piled up — his job, his house, his family… He was under a lot of pressure and made a rushed decision.

We already said goodbye on good terms, but I still wonder: is it possible for him to come back again later?
