The quoted text from the earlier post came out of a discussion where people were asking about sadhanas for one after another deity, the same individuals, and asking about combining paths of worship. It is an oversimplification, one that makes a very important point but also is not complete. u/ujjwalbegins pointed out some very important nuances and exceptions in the previous post https://www.reddit.com/r/Shaktaverse/s/VEcJNWLkLT. Their comments are pasted below, please integrate these important notes if you read the previous post:

“What about worshipping what are regarded as the "complementary" deities- Like Some form of Ma shakti with some form of Bhairava ,or Sri Ram with sri Hanuman ,or Sri Krishna with Radha or mata Laksmi etc”

“Thanks for acknowledging, one more point i want to present ,there have been sadhaks who intuitively need to change their Ishta after some time like some start with Hanuman as Ishta dev then after few years end up naturally with some form of Vishnu(Sri Ram/Krishna etc) or some form of Devi as their primary Ishta (may be due to past lives karma or connection with deities) so Ishta may and does change for some sadhakas over course of their practice , similarly Ganapati/Bhairav upasana naturally leads to devi or shiva upasana in few years for some. So may be a little room for diversification is okay IMHO, however most ppl try to master many energies all at once and end up with nothing(jack of all trades but master of none) , which is definitely not recommended,i get it that is what you pointed out in the post.”

Additionally, wanted to affirm that, per tradition, your guru’s instructions always take primacy over anything else, so if Guru ji says worship multiple deities, regardless of the details (hopefully we all come to find good effective true gurus), should do so

Some expansion and nuance to the post about only worshipping one deity. Thanks, u/ujjwalbegins 🙏
