Why do we settle for cages when wings are meant to fly? Where is the home that lets your soul bloom without fear? Can you grow if you’re trapped in someone else’s shadow?
"Beauty in a Person"
When a caterpillar finds the right place A place to nestle, of peace and warmth A place it calls home A home that is quiet and safe from the outside world.
Only then can the caterpillar truly become a butterfly A butterfly with beautiful wings Wings that are sometimes colorful Colorful like fallen autumn leaves Light like the cool early mornings of summer White like the first snow in summertime.
It’s similar with people We grow when we find a home A sense of safety that protects from daily stress When we find a place where we can breathe freely Air—free from the judgment of others A place to sit And reflect on life without anyone else’s opinions.
Only then does the soul of a person begin to grow again. We grow internally, as if we ourselves were butterflies Only then do our souls become truly colorful. Some with more patterns Some in shades of white Some in the brightest of colors But only then do we become our true soul— The soul last seen in early childhood.
