Are Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi the most famous people on Earth, without question?

Some might argue that celebrities like Taylor Swift, Leonardo DiCaprio, or even political figures like Donald Trump are just as famous. But are they really?

Music tastes vary a lot by culture, language, and region. I’m not sure how much Taylor Swift is listened to in places like rural India or China, or how recognizable DiCaprio is in remote parts of Africa. Even major politicians often have limited reach outside their own regions.

Football (soccer), on the other hand, is a truly global sport. It’s played and followed in almost every corner of the planet, across all languages, religions, and political systems. Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are known in America, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia — even among Taliban in Afghanistan, people recognize them.

So… is there anyone who truly competes with Messi and Ronaldo in terms of global fame?
