Anyway to keep a craftsman m220 fwd side/back door open?
New renter here. I got a craftsman s/p Fwd m220 that keeps clogging in my grass. Doesn’t matter how often I mow either it will clog. I bought a high lift blade and it helped (after I had to scour the internet for a new adapter since my craftsman came with a s shape instead of bow tie for some reason). Doesn’t matter if I set the height to 2 or 5 or whatever, mow in am or pm it clogs all the same. The grass clippings get stuck on the side discharge chute and instantly backs it up into the deck and then my discharge chute pops right off and I have to stop and put it back on. Like it will mow for a pass of my yard and then bam random clog for no discernible reason. It will happily clog on the taller grass in my backyard and the short grass in my front yard. My old mower I used to use that was my dad’s (I thought it was craftsman but all I know is it was red) didn’t have this issue and that was on a giant yard that we mowed less often.
Is there a different side discharge chute that doesn’t do that I can buy? I was thinking of just removing the door and chute altogether but from what I’ve read that’s a good way to get rocks and pieces of branches flung everywhere. I saw someone 3D printed a chute for the rear discharge but that was for an ego mower. My chute is just super flimsy and when I hook it to the metal rod on the door it doesn’t hold very well.
