Hades II Early Access – Is It Worth It Now or Should I Wait
Hey everyone, I’ve been a huge fan of Hades I and loved grinding through dozens of runs to finally unlock the True Ending and Epilog. Now that Hades II is in Early Access, I’m torn about whether to dive in or hold off until the full 1.0 release. I’ve got a bunch of questions, and I’d love to hear experiences from anyone who’s been playing the Early Access build:
⸻
-
If I buy Hades II now, do I get the “complete” game? • Does my purchase include everything planned up through the months of updates, or just a slice of the final content?
-
I heard the most recent update (“Unseen Update” / “Warsong Update”) dropped recently. • Can I enjoy the full story arc so far, or is there still major content missing?
-
What’s the real difference between playing now vs. waiting for the official release? • Early Access price vs. full-release price? • Is performance or polish still rough in EA? • Are achievements/leaderboards and the final boss fight gated behind 1.0?
-
Does the story keep progressing if I beat the final boss (Chronos) repeatedly? • In Hades I, each successful escape unlocked new dialogue, and by the 10th run you got the True Ending, then dozens more runs for the Epilog. • In Hades II EA, if I beat Chronos once and then restart, do I get new story chunks each time, or does it just reset back to the opening?
-
For that “True Ending” and Epilog, do I need to grind dozens of runs like before? • Or will those cutscenes and final chapters only arrive in one big drop when 1.0 launches?
-
Will I miss any unique story beats or character moments if I jump in now? • Are all the NPC relationship events, keepsake dialogues, and random biome encounters unlocked normally run-by-run?
⸻
TL;DR: • Is it worth buying and playing Hades II Early Access right now? • Or should I wait until the official 1.0 release to experience the complete, polished story from start to finish?
Any insights from folks who’ve gone deep into the current EA build would be massively appreciated. Thanks! 🙏🏻🏻
