What happens when store moves?

Silly question I realize. Our neighborhood Publix is moving about 1/3 of a mile down the street. The old store closes one day and the new one opens the next. What happens to everything in the old store? This is happening within days and the old store is still fully stocked to the point you wouldn't know it is about to close, and I've heard the new store is already fully stocked and ready to go. It makes sense old store wouldn't do close outs/discounts and distract attention from the new store, but what happens to the old inventory? I'm hoping their is an arrangement for a food pantry or shelters, or even for employees to get free or discount food. I did ask an employee and they said they didn't know what was happening.
