The best alternative to Birddogs shorts

I really like birddogs shorts. The product is amazing. They feel great, I think they look great, the colors are sharp, I like the draw string(I can fold that in for cleaner look), belt loops, and the fly flap is ther for depth, and my favorite part is the left side zip pocket, it’s perfect for my larger phone. The liner feels great but its gross and I’d rather not wash them so frequently. So that’s not important to me at all

My issue, they pill. And the pilling is my issue not the product. It sucks but I have rougher hands and I play guitar. For some reason all the little tiny skin cracks catch and pull on the fabric. I know it sounds gross but honestly my hands aren’t that bad and I put lotion on them when I remember , they are rough but not a disaster. This is the ONLY product that I’ve had this issue with, so I’m hoping it’s an isolated issue with just birddogs. It sucks, I love them but I’m going to destroy them.

Anyone thats worn or tried birddogs, that can recommend a good quality short that offers something between a 5.5”-7” in seam with as many features and look as close as you can get to the birddog stretch khaki?
