Staying in an AirBnB off S Lyerly St. in Chattanooga and I’m a little concerned about the safety of the area?

I’m here for about a month and I am fairly certain I’ve heard gunshots on two different nights that didn’t sound very far away. Can anyone speak to the safety of this area? What should I avoid?

I’m here for work and didn’t realize the area wasn’t the safest until I got here. Driving in, I had a sinking feeling in my gut. I’m totally unfamiliar with Chattanooga (and hopefully won’t be after the next 4 weeks)!
