Truconnect has been such a huge clusterfuck of a failure for me, I don't even know what to say! Right now they are keeping my phone number hostage, and I can't get it back.
I only got into this god forsaken carrier because when I moved to California, they offered me free service through the california lifeline program. If I knew what a massive headache I was getting into at that time, I would have never done it.
I left the country for one week at the beginning of this month, and when I came back, I was faced with an unpleasant surprise: my sim card was no longer working. I checked it with another phone just to be sure, and nope it simply doesn't work (it says no service).
So with this, most of my other online activity is also either halted or at risk. For example, my online banking account with one of my banks got suspended because they couldn't reach my number so they got suspicious.
Ever since then, I have been trying to get my phone number back online but nothing has worked out so far.

First I called their customer service and explained what happened to them. They said nothing looks wrong on my account, so they forwarded my concern to their "technical team" to look at the sim card. I never heard back from that team.

When the problem wasn't solved, they suggested that I order a new sim card, so I did. I waited for a week for the sim card and put it in my phone. It wasn't activating for a day or two so I called their customer service again to activate it. Guess what they told me: they can activate it but it will be a completely new number, they can't give me my old number back... like wut???

I keep calling them looking for a solution, then one of them said that the sim card that they send is through T Mobile, but if I order a phone from them, it will come with a verizon sim card WHICH will enable me to get my number back. The phone was cheap (50$) so I agreed, because I was desperate to get my number back. When the phone arrived, I turned it on with the sim card that it came with, and surprise surprise, it doesn't work. The sim card says "no service" both on the phone that they sent me and on my own phone. Also, they accidentally sent me two phones instead of one.

I finally give up on working with truconnect, but I get another idea: port the number out to another carrier. So I orderd a sim card from anotehr carrier and obtained the port-out information from truconnect customer service (the account number and pin number). Today the new sim arrived and activated, and I entered the port-in information to complete this process. The result: truconnect rejected the port-out...
I might need to forget about getting my number back and go change all my accounts to the new number.
