Durge for (kinda) 2nd playthrough?

Hey everyone! I played BG3 through early access multiple times, and then played a full release save all the way until about halfway through Act 3. Then I realized my game was bugged and I couldn't romance my hot bestie Karlach and ended up not finishing.

Long story longer, I'd like to start a new save. Should I do a vanilla run all the way through, or did I get enough of the main story to make Durge a better idea?
