I'll Always Go Back For You [1658]

I genuinely have no idea if this is any good, but I'm ready for the honesty. Let me know what I'm doing well, and what I need to work on.

But does Elio feel the same? No, not after learning that Daiki is leaving the country. Leaving him behind. He realized he was in love with his first real friend. He vowed to keep it a secret no matter what to not loose his only true friend. After getting captured by villains, he choose his secret over himself. With some luck, Daiki was able to go back in time to befriend the prickly pear again. He needs to make it right this time. Save him from choosing to loose his will because he didn't trust him enough. How will Daiki fair befriending his beyond antisocial friend already knowing almost all of him? Will he be able to hide he's from the future from his family, his teachers, Elio? Will this life end them as friends again, or maybe as something more?

Beginning Chapter 1: If anyone ever asked me where I would be 4 years after middle school, graduating from my dream school wouldn't have even happened in my wildest dreams. With me dying my hair and the 180 personality change, I can guarantee no one in that class would recognize me once I got in. I made a promise to myself that summer. After the impossible of getting accepted into my dream school, I made sure to completely change myself to the person I've always wanted to be. No longer would I be the shy timid boy who barley had any friends and would never be the first to initiate conversations out of fear of bothering someone. No! He would be the bright shining beacon of sunshine, confidence, and friends with the whole class. He was going to know everybody in class and they would know his name this time!

All it took was a handful of weeks and a lot more chatting than I've done in probably my whole life, but it really happened. Everyone in my class knew my name, knew ME. Well... almost everyone. Except ... Elio. He seems like some kind of delinquent that got in based on his family or something with how he acts and talks. His sour attitude doesn't help him with the rumors either. He always has a permanent scowl on his face, whether he's working on homework, listening to lectures, and even just eating! Never once in my weeks of being here have I seen that man initiate any sort of conversation, not even with the teachers. Except if it was to tell somebody to "Shut it!" or to "Fucking Move!" With how little he does of anything I thought he was coasting on some scholarship. Then I had my first chance to ever talk with the guy and that thought changed real fast.

It was the day where our first ever ranks of the class via grades and I was dreading it. I can change my personality and my looks all I want, but there's no changing the fact that I've never done very good at these. When our midterm grades came out everyone was whispering and chatting about something. I thought it was because I was in very last place in class, but when I looked at the top of the leader board did I realize what they were really all whispering about. THE infamous bad boy Elio was 2nd in the class, and only by one damn percent. After looking towards the bottom and finding me just 5 places from the very last place in the class. I was too caught up in my disappointment to notice Elio storming towards the board. When the others saw Elio coming, it was like the seas itself parted. I didn't even notice him until he was right next to me ripping the paper off the wall that I jumped in surprise. He must have took one look at the paper, but that was all he needed to get the angriest I've ever seen that man. With some very colorful language under his breath he started to wad it up to clearly throw it out. I tired to stop him by calling his name and saying, "Pretty sure we aren't supposed to move the paper, much less throw it out.""

I could practically hear the creak of his neck from the slow venomous turn towards me. He seethed out, "Fucking watch me Shitty Hair." He shoulder checked me to the side and angrily threw it out without a second thought.

I knew I should have been offended, angry even after what he said and did. But deep down I knew that leaving him alone right now would get explosive. Quite literally, the guys Manafest is summoning explosions specifically from his hands. After that little outburst, it left everyone a little frazzled and scarily quiet. Before anyone had the chance to ask about me or what just happened, I turned around and practically ran after Elio. When I almost caught up i started calling after him with his name, but that didn't seem to work very well. He was so deep in his own thoughts. So I did what I thought was best, and lightly grabbed his shoulder to turn him around. After I touched him he recoiled like I basically burned him. And he's the one with the fire related Mana! At his reaction I knew I fucked up, it's quite clear this guy does NOT like to be touched. Or maybe he's just not used to it? Either way, a fucky uppie on my part. When he whipped around I could see some light that was sparking from his hand he was so angry, so this apology needs to happen fast before I get blasted. "S-Sorry! Sorry dude. It was just that I called you a bunch a times and you didn't seem to hear me. I just wanted to make sure your alright, u seem pretty upset about your grade there. Was it because you were so close to being in first?"

He seems to at least semi-accept my apology because he clasps his hands hard together so that the sparks stop flying. Doesn't make him any less angry though. He took a breath in and out to calm himself down a little before starting with, " Listen here, "dude". If I'm angry with my grade or not has nothing to do with you. Your whole friendly schtick won't work on me like it does all those other extras in the class. Let me get this straight, I am just here to go to school, get my homework done, and LEAVE. I want to be a Pro Hero as soon as possible. I don't need any of that chummy friends bullshit and other peoples feelings to worry about on top of that. So do me a favor and next time just fuck off." At that last sentence he pointedly turned around headed straight to the class room where he slammed the door shut plenty loud so he knows I heard it.

All I do is take a look at my hand and back to the classroom door. I sigh and turn around to head back to the others. Can't make that any clearer. This guy is clearly not here to fuck around and find out. He's here for the prestige of going here to get a good job as a hero, and that's final. You definitely can't deny that he wasn't a little blunt, but there was something about the fact that he just out and said that that makes me respect him just that little bit. He laid it all out straight so that neither of us would have to waste any time. He could've only told me to fuck off, but he said a why too. Before I rounded the corner and got back to everyone else, I took one look back at the door that he slammed. Interesting guy, but so much for being friends with the whole class. It was clear the kid had some hell of some walls put up when it comes to others. That and making friends are the bottom of his to do list.

I think that 9th grade me would never be able to believe that that very guy would end up becoming my best friend. The one who I hung out with almost 24/7, helped me with homework, cooked for us, and shared a bed with on long study nights. It didn't come easy though, Elio made sure of that. After months of just happily ignoring each other's existence after the midterms incident, Elio's silent seclusive life turned around in a second. During one of our training field trips during the school year, Elio was framed to start a sleeping cabin on fire. No one believed he was innocent but me. I stood up for a man I barley know, and together we found out why he was set up.(A story for another day, promise) From that moment on we weren't instant friends, but in Elio terms we may have well been. He said morning to me everyday, stopped eating lunch alone, started having real conversations with me and only me, and even offered to tutor me some weekends. I know it wasn't much compared to most friends, but it was something truly special to me. There was something about the fact that the kid who doesn't believe in friends believed in me. Just something about the way his scowl slightly softens and he almost really smiles when we he sees me and only me. He may not have called me a friend then, but he was my best friend to me.
