Why do therapists love watching movies to “learn” about real life conditions and issues?

Question

This is an extreme pet peeve of mine and actually a question is like to ask some more male therapists. Always in courses and conversations among peers, always movies enter , course assignments are even given on movies to “learn” about real conditions.

This always struck me as fucking weird. Like when joker came out everyone was given an assignment to watch the movie and talk about things that might help this fictional dramatised person.

First of all this person isn’t real let’s come out of lala land dude second of all there are literally millions of hours of interviews of extreme traumas of the victims talking about it in real life. Why do we need to obsess over fiction instead of real life ?
