Am I the only one that doesn't absolutely hate the Strata Elite?

Discussion / Conversation

I'll be the first to admit that the multipliers aren't really exciting due to how much they try to force you to spend on the citi travel portal, but looking at the credits/benefits I don't think it's entirely uncompelling. Here are the things I think I personally could derive value from:

  • $300 Hotel Credit: I don't have a Citi card yet, so i don't have any experience using their travel portal and don't know what the hotel prices are like on there. BUT, the fact that this credit is each calendar year is what makes it really compelling for me. If you value this at the full $300 and can double dip it each year (if you get the card now, for example) you could potentially get the full value of the annual fee back on just this credit alone.
  • $200 Splurge Credit: This is yet another credit that is made even more compelling by the fact that it's per calendar year, rather than each cardmember year. Personally, I spend way over $200 each year on electronics (BestBuy), concerts (LiveNation & Ticketmaster), and AA flights, so this wouldn't be hard for me to get value out of. Especially since, once again, you can double dip each year.
  • AA Admirals Club access: My local airport doesn't have any PP lounges unfortunately, but it does have an AA lounge so I could get some use out of this whenever I'm flying out.
  • Authorized user PP Membership with guest access: I don't think this would apply to most people, but I've been using the VX to give my parents access to lounges whenever they travel, but since that benefit is going to be taken away come February, I was looking for a way to give both my parents lounge access for relatively cheap (since doing so for free is probably not gonna be possible). I don't think $75 is that unreasonable, especially if they're willing to foot the bill for the AU fee hahah

Does anyone else see value in these benefits? Apparently Blacklane is more reasonably priced internationally so maybe you'd be able to get some value out of that credit even if it's not the full $200. Even if we value this at $0 though, if you give the full value to the Hotel and Splurge credits you could ostensibly get up to $1,000 in value for a $595 annual fee and that's without even taking the SUB into consideration.

I'd love to hear what you guys think about all this!
