Rare 2021 Atami Landslide – Whole District Destroyed

On July 3, 2021, after days of relentless heavy rain, a massive hillside collapse struck the city of Atami in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Entire houses were ripped from their foundations and dragged away within seconds, wiping out a neighborhood and leaving behind catastrophic damage.
More than 130 homes were damaged or completely destroyed, and the estimated losses ran into millions of dollars.
