First day of daycare

My daughter is 8.5 months old and had her first day of daycare today. She will eventually be full time but we only did two hours on her first day. She was totally fine at drop off and they said she was great for the first 1.5 hours. That said, when I picked her up, she was absolutely losing it and red in the face from crying with real tears. She RARELY gets like this, the last time she cried like that was at her shots at 6 months. As soon as I held her, she stopped crying.

When will this get better? How can I support her? It’s the most devastating feeling in the world to show up and have her be so unhappy. So far the only plan is to stick to two hours tomorrow. Any advice? This is so hard.
