Building a Shadowless Master Set

Like many others I have returned to the hobby this year during the huge surge in interest and prices.

I have long term desire to stay involved in collecting, partly due to that I purchased our first home with a 20% down payment and operated very fiscally to get there. I feel justified spending some money on this hobby that I couldn’t when it was much cheaper.

More importantly my son was just born a month ago and I want to share this hobby with him if he would like to.

One of my long term goals is the building of a Shadowless Base Set of cards of LP+ condition. The plan is to take building this slowly and try to get the most out of my money. I care less about how much it appreciates and more how much it costs to build as it will be our personal collection.

I know what kind of spike that this hobby has seen this year in part to people like myself as well as the increased investors. Vintage has been impacted significantly, but to a degree smaller than modern from my perspective.

Do we think Vintage prices hold and grow from this point? I’d like to build it through the next couple of years and would love to wait for a dip but is wonder if that even happen to vintage?

I know no one has a crystal ball but wanted to get thoughts from more experienced people who has built older master sets.
