When did Jesse's attack stop bouncing off the turret?

I'm a returning player from 2018 and my favorite character was Jesse, since I could just place her turret in a bush and then spam my attacks on the turret and they would auto aim at enemies

I redownloaded the game today and that was no longer the case T_T (my bullets just pass through my turret). When did they change this and why?
